It’s Not Heaven

Hello good friend, is that you passing by?

Come rest with me for a spell.

I’m lonely for some company.

It’s not heaven, but at least it’s not hell.

The stars rise up and the sun dies down.

Time passes, oh this I can tell.

I lay in my grave, neither here nor there

It’s not heaven but at least it’s not hell.

Of the sweet by and by, I figured I knew.

But death has broken that spell,

No rest in peace for the one who can’t sleep.

It’s not heaven, but at least it’s not hell.

Come closer my friend and you’ll hear my plea.

Please tell me that you’ll remember me.

Don’t leave me here where the end isn’t clear.

It’s not heaven, but at least it’s not hell.

Burning Pain

My new wife went back home to visit some old friends

and she showed me the house where she used to live.

But her smile turned upside down when she recalled her last old man

cos he left her with a burning pain.

Burning Pain (Burning Pain) Burning pain (Burning Pain)

Running crazy in the pouring rain.

It shouldn’t be getting harder as the years go running by

But its left me with this nagging burning pain

We married each other after 40 years gone past.

But you lived in new york so far away

I couldn’t live another day in this empty house.

being without you is a burning pain.

A radical bladder can cause 3 days in bed.

Epstein Barr and some hypertension too.

But nothing gets better when physicians turn their backs

and they leave you with a burning pain

I wait for the day when we can go out on our own

Far away from dysfunctionality

Our family and kids have brought such stress into our lives

and it's left us with a burning pain.

(Doing) Cool Stuff

I’m so glad that you have come back into my life

I have missed your face for so many years (its’ been blue)

Now I’ll dedicate my life to being spent just looking around

and being together and doing cool stuff with you.

We went upstate to look for ghosts but just saw spooky clouds

Music Camp to see Toombs Dixon and The Faux

The rest stop on the turnpike said Bon Jovi service stop

But there was no food, no service, and no fuel.

We will always find something good to eat at home by the bay

Whether its Nassau, St. Johns, Carroll, or the Jersey Shore.

But i remember we went to Coney Island after the snow

and had hot dogs, fries, and soda in the car.

Been to Edinburgh to see Tom Jones, and Glasgow to play golf.

Moved all about London on the rails.

Made our tour guide crazy looking for the beatles in Liverpool

And saw sheep by the beach on the rolling hills of Wales.

The Love That's Yet to Come

You held my heart in the palm of your hand

It fell through your fingers into the sand

It kept on beating like a drum

For all the love that’s yet to come

It’ll light my way, that’s what they say

It’ll be alright, it’ll be OK

Like a beam of light from the sun

Waiting for the love that’s yet to come

You were my woman and you made me blue

You had my love but it wouldn’t do

Now I’m holding on though my hands are numb

Waiting for the love that’s yet to come

In the darkest night when you let me down

When you tore my heart left it on the ground

Still it keeps beating like a drum

For all the love that’s yet to come

Bring Me Back To You

When I am far away and traveling alone

I look up at the stars overhead

I draw a line between them so I can get back home

For each one brings me back to you

Out in the valley a freight train’s on the move

I count the cars behind it two by two

I’d like to climb aboard it if I knew it was true

The tracks would bring me back to you

Solo

This road is long and winding, the job is never through

Lines stretch out beyond me, wishing I was there with you

Life gets so lonely out on the open road

Missing all that happens there at home

My eyes are getting heavy, and I’ll pull over soon

My dreams bring me back to you

Old Red

Who's gonna greet the morning sun,

let you know the day's begun?

Who's gonna keep the small ones

safe from harm?

No one loves an old red rooster

he can't do the things he used to

Will the sun keep on a rising

    when he's gone?

You should have seen me back in the day

No one dared get in my way

And how the ladies loved to

flock around

Now, no one loves an old red rooster

he can't do the things he used to

Will the sun keep on a rising

    when he's gone?

Out in the yard, I'd strut and preen

my spurs were sharp and my heart was mean

It takes a tough old hand

to run the farm

No one loves an old red rooster

he can't do the things he used to

Will the sun keep on a rising

    when he's gone?

How I loved the quiet morn

to watch a new day being born

The beauty always filled my

heart with song

But no one loves an old red rooster

he can't do the things he used to

Will the sun keep on a rising

    when he's gone?

Will that old sun keep on a shining

    ...when I'm gone?

Staying Here Right Next to You

Your hand in my hair, a poem, a kiss

I skydive into your ocean blue.

Your smile, your eyes; there is nothing but bliss

I’m staying here right next to you.

But then the divide, the silence, the cold

I miss the feeling that it’s true.

The highs then the lows; it’s so hard to know

But I’m staying here right next to you.

An ocean, a dream, a swell, our embrace

Thinking of you the whole night through

I’ll stay in this dream, this luminous place

I’m staying here right next to you.
